Laser dentistry
Lasers are around in all fields of life and play an important role in dentistry. Whilst not all conditions can be treated in this way, many procedures using the laser can frequently be done without anaesthesia. This is because the laser lacks the heat and vibration of the conventional drill, and there is less trauma to surrounding tissue.
Lasers are more accurate at removing decay than conventional drills and do not cause tiny cracks like conventional drills. Unlike conventional fillings, laser fillings can be done in all parts of the mouth in one visit.
Why laser dentistry?
• Benefits for patients include:
• Less discomfort during and after treatments.
• Preservation of natural, healthy teeth whilst targeting decay.
• Fewer visits.
• Protects teeth against further decay.
• Less need for needle and drills.
